Is the Bio Arterial Plus system right for me?

Intermittent pneumatic compression may be useful for conditions that require improved circulation to the limbs. Speak to your therapist, wound care nurse, GP or vascular surgeon for their opinion. The Bio Arterial Plus can be used in the comfort of the home yielding great results with a 1-hour treatment session.
The Bio Arterial Plus system is an adjunct therapy for patients with:

  • Ischaemic disease of the lower extremities
  • Amputations (minor)
  • Angioplasty/ Stent failure
  • Arteriopathic wounds
  • Graft failure
  • Intermittent claudication
  • Rest pain, Night pain
  • Small vessel disease
Features / Benefits

Regular home management of oedema using IPC can be more cost effective long term than one-on-one therapy sessions.
Pneumatic compression therapy is easy and comfortable. If you find compression stockings hot or difficult to put on, a compression pump might be the answer. The high pressure (120mmHg) and fast cycle programme prevents occlusion.

How does the Bio Arterial Plus system work?

By applying pressure to the surface of the limb it promotes the circulation of blood throughout the body. As each chamber inflates and deflates, blood flow is increased towards the body’s extremities. The application of high-level, rapid pressure (120mmHg) optimises venous emptying and leads to an increase in the arterio-venous pressure gradient. This causes a significant increase in oxygenated arterial calf inflow that has been proven to be sustainable over time. (Alvares, 2015; Delis, 2005).
