Is a compression pump right for me?

Intermittent pneumatic compression may be useful for conditions that require improved circulation or the removal of lymph fluid build-up (or oedema) from the limbs or trunk. Speak to your lymphoedema therapist, wound care nurse, GP or vascular surgeon for their opinion. The Biocompression pump can be used in the comfort of the home yielding great results with 30 min-1 hour sessions once or twice a day.

Features / Benefits

Regular home management of oedema using SIPC can be more cost effective long term than one-on-one therapy sessions. Pneumatic compression therapy is easy and comfortable. If you find compression stockings hot or difficult to put on, a compression pump might be the answer. The Bio Compression 8-Chamber garment system offers the following features:

  • Directional flow, sequential compression, non-peristaltic
  • 8-level gradient pressure
  • Variable pressure 20-120mmHg – TO BE SELECTED BY YOUR HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
  • Five cycle times available to suit your condition
  • Focus setting – focus your treatment to a particular part of the limb
  • The 8-chamber arm-vest garment provides compression of arm, shoulder and chest
  • Custom sizing to fit your unique body shape and provide best coverage and compression – for purchase only
  • Easy to put on with two front zippers and pull-on straps

How does SIPC work?

Intermittent pneumatic compression mimics the body’s manual lymphatic drainage. By applying pressure to the surface of the limb it promotes the circulation of blood/fluid throughout the body. In the classic mode, each chamber inflates and deflates sequentially starting from the extremity and moving towards the centre of the body. SIPC provides best results when compression stockings or wraps are used post-therapy to maintain the oedema reduction.

I’ve been using a compression pump for lymphoedema for nearly a month now. This includes some very hot days when swelling is always an issue. Very happy with the machine.
